This document sets out who we are, the service we provide, what you will pay, and how to complain. Please read it before you apply for finance through us.
Who we are
H and E Motor Finance is a trading name of Herts and Essex Motor Company Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 09592705. Our registered address is Unit F, Belcon Industrial Estate, Bingley Road, Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, EN11 0NX.
We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under firm reference number 709991. You can check this on the Financial Services Register at register.fca.org.uk or by calling the FCA on 0800 111 6768.
Whose products we offer
We are a credit broker, not a lender. We introduce customers to a panel of lenders who may be able to provide finance for a vehicle purchase. We do not offer products from across the whole of the market, and we are not an independent financial adviser.
The service we provide
We will not give you advice or a personal recommendation about which finance product is right for you. We will ask questions about your circumstances and your budget so we can introduce you to suitable options, and we will give you the information you need to make your own decision. Any application is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. We never guarantee that finance will be approved.
What you will pay for our services
You will pay us no fee for our services. We do not charge broker fees, arrangement fees or administration fees of any kind.
Commission
We will receive a commission from the lender if you enter into a finance agreement that we have introduced. Commission is normally calculated as a percentage of the amount you borrow, and the amount varies depending on the lender and the product you choose.
We will tell you the exact amount of commission we will receive, in pounds and pence, in good time before your agreement is finalised, and we will ask for your written consent to proceed on that basis. You can ask us about commission at any point, and we will answer you in full.

If you have a complaint
If you wish to complain about any part of the service we have provided, please contact us by WhatsApp, email or phone, or write to us at our address. Full details are on our Complaints Policy page.
If we cannot resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, or eight weeks have passed since you first raised it, you may be entitled to refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service, Exchange Tower, London, E14 9SR. Telephone 0800 023 4567. Website www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk. This is a free, independent service and using it will not affect your legal rights.
The Financial Services Compensation Scheme
Our credit broking activities are not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
Your personal information
To arrange finance we will pass your details to lenders on our panel, who will carry out identity, affordability and credit checks. These searches may leave a record on your credit file. We will only use and share your information as set out in our Privacy Policy.
