Finance guide
Bad credit car finance
A poor credit history doesn't have to stop you driving. As an FCA-authorised credit broker we work with a panel of UK lenders — including specialists who look beyond your score at what matters today: your income, your outgoings, and whether the finance is affordable.
How a panel of lenders helps
A single dealership finance company gives you one decision. We submit one soft-search application and match you to lenders across mainstream, near-prime and specialist bad-credit underwriting. That means more chances of approval and — where possible — a competitive rate.
What lenders actually look at
- — Current income and affordability, not just your score.
- — Recent payment behaviour over the last 6–12 months.
- — Deposit size and the vehicle you're financing.
- — Whether past issues (defaults, CCJs) are settled and how long ago.
The soft-search advantage
Every formal finance application leaves a mark on your credit file — and multiple applications in a short window can lower your score. Our eligibility check is a soft search: you get an indicative decision in minutes with no impact on your credit score. You only commit to a full application once you've seen terms you're happy with.
Bad credit finance, answered.
Can I get car finance with bad credit?
Yes — often. We work with a panel of UK lenders, several of whom specialise in applicants with past credit issues. Approval depends on your current affordability and circumstances, not just your score.
Will checking eligibility hurt my credit score?
No. Our eligibility check is a soft search. It shows an indicative decision without leaving a footprint on your credit file, so you can see where you stand before deciding to apply.
What counts as 'bad credit'?
Missed payments, defaults, a low score, a CCJ, an IBA or a previous IVA can all affect a credit file. None of them automatically rule you out — lenders look at what has changed since and how affordable the finance is now.
Do I need a bigger deposit with bad credit?
Sometimes. A larger deposit reduces the amount financed and can widen the pool of lenders willing to approve you, but it isn't always required — several of our lenders offer low- and no-deposit options on the right vehicle.
